Thank You Meditation

“What you appreciate, appreciates” is a phrase I have heard often. This Thank You Meditation is a quick way to practice the art of appreciation periodically throughout your day.

  1. Sit quietly and comfortably with your eyes closed

  2. Begin to picture something that you are grateful for. This could be a person, an object, an emotion, a character trait, an experience, etc.

  3. While keeping that picture in your head, in your mind say the words thank you in rhythm with your breath - “Thank” on the inhale, “you” on the exhale

  4. As you are doing this, feel the emotion of gratitude throughout your body

  5. Continue this for one minute or longer

Depending upon how much time you have, you can think of different things you appreciate and practice the same “thank - you” breathing rhythm.
