Perfect Summer Day

Taking time to map out what an ideal day would look like to us personally can go a long way in helping to instill a more optimistic and positive mindset. As we discussed several times in class, cultivating a mindset like that pays off on and off the field.

As summer break is about to begin, take a few minutes to write out what a perfect summer day would be for you. Below are a few questions to help guide your thoughts. Remember, as with most exercises like this, the more detailed and specific you can be, the better.

  • What time will you wake up?

  • What will you do immediately upon waking up?

  • What type of weather will it be outside?

  • What are you eating for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks on this day?

  • Are you spending the day inside or outside?

  • Are you going somewhere on this day or staying home?

  • What are you doing?

  • Is it a day that you have a game, practice, strength training, day off, etc.?

  • What would happen during that game, practice, or whatever else you are planning on doing?

  • Who are you spending the day with?

  • What emotions are you experiencing on this perfect day?

  • What time will you go to sleep?

Now that you have this written down, try to replicate as many aspects of it as possible several days this summer and see what impact it has on your outlook and mindset.
